Introduction to the 2nd Cohort of Young Parliamentary Associates 2018-2019
Abeer Mian is currently pursuing an MSPH degree from Jinnah Medical University. After more than five years of professional, academic and volunteer experiences in the local field of Infectious Diseases, Malnutrition and Maternal Health she is currently placed as a Young Parliamentary Associate with the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly and the Office of Women Parliamentary Caucus (Sindh). She continues her passion for developing legislative-oriented strategies that cater to the sustained empowerment and capacity building of women and younger children, especially those residing in communities that are marginalized and remote from access to healthcare services.
Dr Kinza Bhutto is a graduate of Dow University of Health Sciences and is currently pursuing her Master’s in Health Policy and Management from Aga Khan University. She is currently engaged with the Women Parliamentary Caucus (WPC) and is assisting the honourable MPAs of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh in drafting health policies. Dr Kinza has been working as a Young Parliamentary Associate since November 2018.
Muzamil Memon is a Law graduate from Government Sindh Law College Hyderabad. He is currently working as a Young Parliamentary Associate in Provisional Assembly of Sindh since November 2018. He is deployed at legislation branch to assist the MPA’s on proposing and drafting the legislative and non-legislative business of the House.
Saba holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Software Engineering from Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro with distinction. She is currently working as a Young Parliamentary Associate (YPA) at the Provincial Assembly of Sindh. She is deployed with the Information Technology department. Her role is to work on the development of Women Parliamentary Caucus (WPC) website. Moreover, she is conducting research on the implementation of E-parliament system in the Provincial Assembly of Sindh.
Sarwat is currently pursuing MPhil in International Relations while working as a Young Parliamentary Associate (YPA) in Provincial Assembly of Sindh since July 2017. As part of the first cohort of Young Parliamentary Associate (YPA) program, she assisted Honorable Members of Assembly with legislative drafting. She has been credited for the drafting of ‘the Sindh Regularization of Aesthetic and Laser Treatment Act, 2018’. For the second cohort, she has been engaged with the office of the Leader of Opposition to assist in tasks related to research and drafting. In addition to her primary duties, she undertakes variety of research-oriented assignments upon request from Honorable Members.
Sohail Raza holds a Master’s in Environmental Engineering from USPCASW, Mehran University. He is currently working as a Young Parliamentary Associate (YPA) in the Provincial Assembly of Sindh since November 2018. He is deployed in the Question Branch of the Assembly. His role is to assist the honourable MPAs in drafting Questions, Calling Attention Notices, Resolutions and Bills
Taha Zaheer holds a Master’s degree in International Relation and is pursuing a second Master’s in Media studies. He served as a Young Parliamentary Associate in the first cohort of the YPA Batch during which he facilitated the Additional Secretary Sindh Assembly Chamber while simultaneously providing support to SDGs Task Force. Taha’s current role as a YPA involves providing research support to Members while introducing effective file management system in Additional Secretary Chamber.
Waheed Ali holds Master’s degree in Political Science from School of Politics and International Relations, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad. Previously, he worked as an Intern at Research Directorate, Senate of Pakistan. Presently, he is working as a Young Parliamentary Associate from November 2018 in Provincial Assembly of Sindh. He is assisting the Leader of Opposition Chamber with research and drafting related assignments.
